Hmm, looks like that Peugeot RCZ concept from years back, and much like Peugeot they may make the general shape of the car into a production vehicle, but the performance bits and mid-engine will never turn a wheel in anger. My $0.02

That would mean Honda doing something actually cool. I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, it's Honda's way to differentiate itself to the majority of upcoming, FR Japanese sports car, and obtaining that way, a rival for the 4C and the Cayman.

Honda would be better off using less carbon fiber and keeping the price low. $70,000 is a lot of money for a 400HP Mid-engined honda. You can get an F-type, Stingray Z06, and an M4 for the same price, all of which are going to be better looking, faster, and more bang for the buck.

It's not really an S2000 then is it?

I don't understand that trend in cars. Things can change massively but they keep the same name.

Apples and oranges. Those have the engine in the wrong place, to begin with.

Technically, all 3 of those cars are front-mid engined anyway.

Honda should be making mid-engined S2000 that costs $32,000. I think the people who really want a new S2000 can't shill out $70,000 for a car that won't be a daily driver, and the people who can afford it will be running for either cars they can daily drive (M4) or cars that carry a brand premium. (F-Type)

Leaving it to be a show car for people who want to be different, but doesn't really want to buy it because its actually the best car, whether it is or not. Which will mean that it won't become one.

I don't believe any news that comes from Australian automotive press anymore. I will give this some consideration once it's confirmed by a credible news source, like a news source from any other continent in the world. lol

So many poundages... Why you so fat Honda? You sport car, not built for comfort, built for speed.

Sounds good, but not holding my breath based on how long the NSX is taking.

I've always thought this too. It seems that only the exotic manufactures get it...

How could a 2900 pound turbo 4 365 hp mid-engined roaster be anything but awesome?

I'd hazard a guess that this will be just like the Cayman or Boxster...all about the handling and balance. Not everything is about straight line speed.

The S2000 is already front mid-engined. That engine is pushed so far back you can clearly tell the S2000 has a longer hood than the rest its body, as well as the hood having to open as far back as almost touching the windshield. I don't believe any of this. I'll believe it when I see a concept and spec sheet.

Also, another thing — I don't think Honda will turbocharge this car or let the costs get out of hand. The S2000 was quite expensive right off of the production line, but it was worth it. This new price is out of hand and it will never sell well at this rate. I'm sure Honda may realize that a new affordable sports car will no longer be possible without turbocharging and electric motors and using carbon fiber to keep weight low.

If Honda really does end up making an improper successor to the S2000, then fuck safety and emission regulations. Why do cars that are low production even have to meet emission regulations? Just tax me please...don't put the burden on the people making a sweet and awesome car.

They aren't going to keep a fan base at all with a price above $40k for a new-gen S2000.

And 70k is a lot for a 4 cylinder. V8, FI 6, or keep it under 35k. The last NSX died because they were trying to sell an underpowered NA V6 while everyone else got faster. Reasonable weight and a nice chassis are a start, but give it a real engine.
